Summer at Weld Studio, Trumansburg. Welcome to come a little early, we’ll begin at 9:00.

Engage your breath and awareness through a series of simple and profound physical exercises, based in energetics and somatics. Activities are a mix of standing and seated. All movement backgrounds, abilities, bodies welcome. Basically, if you like the idea of wild swimming but without the chill, this could be for you.

Suggested donation of $5-$15 for your first class of the week, and come to any additional classes the same week for free. No one turned away for lack of funds.

Casual clothing works fine, yoga-type clothes also fine. No mats or blankets needed.

Morning Refresh

Ten Mondays, 1/13-3/10/2025, at 5:15-6:45pm. $150. No drop-ins for this series. Please register by 1/6. Held at the beautiful Ithaca Movement Arts studio in downtown Ithaca.

Releasing explores the rich, multidimensional dialogue of movement and imagination, specifically poetic imagery. The dancing is fostered in part through partnered work, in which specific touch and subtle movement suggest new kinetic and kinesthetic possibilities - opening, lengthening, widening, tipping, falling, more. Music is woven throughout the classes, lending texture, space, and provocation to the mix. Physical awareness, availability to impulse, and allowing movement to happen are central to this experiential, experimental and process-oriented practice.

This series is a continuation of a course offered in fall 2024, thus some experience in modern/post-modern approaches in dance, contemplative practice and/or somatic movement is necessary. Reach out to Julie with any questions.

(Actual dates: 1/13, 1/20, 1/27, 2/3, 2/10, 2/17, 2/24, 2/31, 3/3, 3/10.)
